Change of Plans (unfortunately)…..

Unfortunately, there has been a change of plans when it comes to what I’m going to publish next.

In speaking with my publisher, she’s recommended that I drop the second book in the Deal Duet. Deal Breaker isn’t selling like either one of us had hoped it would, and she says it will just be a waste of time and money that could be used elsewhere.

I agree that Deal Breaker isn’t doing well. I still think it’s because of how the release went (with the Zon publishing it a month before I had scheduled it to launch, leading me to not have the time to push the word out about it), but that’s beside the point. There are still plenty of people who are anxiously awaiting book two and Ethan’s story. However, as hard as it is, this is what I’ve decided to do moving forward.

I am not going to DROP book two. I can’t. Instead, I am going to set it to the side for a bit while I work on another short story series and maybe another standalone or something. I will STILL be working on it, and I will STILL be releasing it; it will just be postponed for a little while, and it will be self-published.

I am not going to waste my publisher’s time with something that isn’t going to sell, but I am also not going to disappoint my readers, who are actually looking forward to book two. So, it’s still going to be published; the timeline is just going to be pushed a bit while I work on a couple of other things for her first. It’s not what I want to do at all, but it’s what I have to do for the time being.

That being said, thanks to my amazing Beta team, I already have the short story series planned out and am already deep into working on book one. They spent the day listening to me ramble and toss ideas around about it and even provided some of their own ideas as well. I honestly couldn’t do what I do if it weren’t for them and my amazing PA; they are lifesavers.

I have a couple of short story series out already, but this one is going to be very different. It’s going to be darker, and it’s going to have an overarching storyline through all five books. It’s going to be spicer too and have some possible triggers.

Here are some details about this series:

  • It’s going to be a five-book, short story series, with each book focusing on a different couple.
  • It’s a paranormal romance series focusing on shifters and witches.
  • Some of the tropes are: Enemies to lovers, fated mates, virgin, age-gap, forced proximity, grumpy/sunshine, fake relationship, second chance, and rejected mates.

I’m not going to lie; I was worried that I was going to resent this series because it’s not what I wanted to be working on, and that always reflects in the writing. However, I am happy to say that’s not the case anymore. Not now that I’ve worked it out and have another plan.

I guess that’s all I have for now. I have to get back into the writing cave and keep pushing on book one so I can get it out to the world!

Until next time, happy reading!
