Maria changed her social media status to ‘in a relationship’ to get her friend off her back about her lack of a dating life. She chose someone she didn’t remember meeting to avoid awkward questions, and went with someone way out of her league because, why not? It made her feel better about being curvy.
She didn’t plan for anything to come of it, and had every intention of changing it back before he ever saw it. But then he tracks her down, and her fake relationship begins to blur her reality until it doesn’t feel so fake anymore.
